pioneering the development of Africa’s first green port for local and international use, powered by green hydrogen.

Snake Island Green Hydrogen Port (SIGHyP) LTD is an indigenous company founded for the sole purpose of pioneering the development Africa’s first green port, powered by green hydrogen and its derivatives. SIGHyP LTD operates in the strong believe that energy development and transition can work hand in hand with sustainability and innovation. Our history and track record in and the development of new technologies to decarbonise the heavy, energy, minerals and maritime industry, reinforce and complement each other.

Hydrogen production plant

Introducing the hydrogen production plant Snake Island Green Hydrogen Port (SIGHyP) – the perfect location for green energy harvesting, green ammonia production and fuel conversion. Our ambition is to produce green ammonia for agricultural use as well as power deep-sea vessels with green ammonia. This ambition led us to Snake Island, located at the fringes of the Nigerian side of the Atlantic Ocean, where we can produce ammonia using abundant renewable energy in the area – particularly solar and wind energies.

SIGHyP LTD recognizes the significance of local integration in sustainable project planning, and has established a a training and education within the side to train new skilled and semi-skill workforce as well as upskill new workers. The Hydrogen production plant project is be built in phases, first as a demonstration project. We will welcome stakeholders to come and see the evidence of a working green hydrogen plant in Nigeria and Africa. The Hydrogen production plant will also produce hydrogen for local applications in the agricultural sector (fertilizers) as well as for the transportation and logistics sector for fuel for vehicles such as trucks, locomotives, as well as port & mining equipment.

The demonstration project will feature a 1 MW electrolyser and a 1.5 MW solar and wind park. With the implementation of this sustainable project approach, SIGHyP is confident in its project success. This will be the first project of its kind in Africa.
